Job OverviewWe are seeking a forward-thinking and collaborative Director of Nursing (DON) to lead the Medical Pediatrics unit at a flagship Level II Trauma Center in Central Wisconsin. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, this role blends strategic vision with hands‑on leadership across four core service lines. The ideal candidate will bring energy, innovation, and the ability to inspire teams during a time of transformation.
You’ll play a key role in achieving Pathway to Excellence designation, reconfiguring unit structures, enhancing patient throughput, and building a thriving nursing culture aligned with organizational values.
- Develop and execute strategic vision for the medical, pediatrics, oncology, inpatient rehab, and palliative service lines.
- Lead operational improvements to support Pathway to Excellence designation and enhance patient throughput.
- Reconfigure unit structures and staffing models to optimize quality of care and workforce engagement.
- Foster a nursing culture that reflects the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to compassionate care.
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required;
Master’s in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred (or enrolled, with completion within 3 years). - Active RN license in Wisconsin or a compact‑eligible state.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive nursing leadership experience.
- Demonstrated success in operational and strategic leadership, team development, and change management.
- Experience in inpatient nursing operations, staffing, and regulatory compliance.
