Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR / Anesthesia RN)

Wausau, WI | Acute Care

Contract (9 Weeks) | Full-Time | 40 Hours Guaranteed Per Week | Monday–Friday, Rotating 8-Hour Shifts | On-Call Required

• Assist anesthesia providers across a variety of surgical specialties, with a primary focus on the cardiothoracic program, including heart surgeries, traumas, elective surgeries, and general surgeries
• Support anesthesiologists with placement of arterial lines, central lines, lumbar drains, and Swan-Ganz catheters; assist with intubations and fiber optic scopes during intubation using sterile technique
• Operate and manage specialized equipment including Cell Saver, Belmont, and Level I fluid warmers; start IVs, draw labs, and set up medication pumps
• Circulate in assigned OR rooms (4–5 rooms per day) within a 21-OR facility covering all surgical specialties
• Participate in on-call rotation including day call, backup call, weekend calls, and holiday call; 30-minute response time to the OR is required — a personal vehicle is mandatory for this position
• Maintain flexibility for downtime tasks as needed and adhere to all facility infection control and vaccination policies

• Active Wisconsin RN License or valid Compact RN License required
• AHA or ARC BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (diploma required as proof)
• Minimum 3+ years of OR experience with anesthesia experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Proficiency with Epic EMR, Cell Saver, and Belmont required

• Strong CVOR circulating experience
• Prior experience with conscious sedation
• Demonstrated critical thinking skills with strong knowledge of all OR case types
• Resilient, adaptable, and able to manage change effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment

• Work within a high-acuity, multi-specialty OR environment with a dedicated cardiothoracic program and a structured 2-week orientation with additional anesthesia skills training provided
• Scrub attire provided on-site, with guaranteed hours each week (excluding orientation week and facility-closed holidays)
