Registered Nurse Team LeadThe Registered Nurse Team Lead (TL) understands and supports the philosophy and policies and procedures of Aspirus. The Registered Nurse Team Lead works collaboratively to produce, nurture and sustain a professional practice and healthy work environment that affords and enhances patient care experience, effectiveness, and efficiency through leadership to multidisciplinary teams, effective physician relationships and a shared vision and dedication to the future of Aspirus.
TL has accountability for the overall coordination of all the Registered Nurses and other healthcare providers within a specific department. In collaboration with formal leadership, is responsible for overseeing the functioning of the department, which includes participation in direct patient care as well as ensuring appropriate resources to provide safe, high quality patient care.
12-bed intensive care unit that focuses on patients with primary cardiac and vascular conditions that require highly skilled nursing care, as well as continuous monitoring of vital signs and other invasive parameters. The patient mix includes post-operative open heart surgery patients, complicated vascular surgery patients, targeted temperature management post-cardiac arrest patients, and patients with specialty devices such as intra-aortic balloon pumps, temporary pacemakers, tandem heart devices, Impellas, Swan-Ganz catheters, titratable continuous intravenous medications, ventilators, etc.
Patients may also require Vasopressor and/or Antiarrhythmic agents, may be ventilated and require sedation or paralytics. Patients may also require Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy or Targeted Temperature Management. CICU also cares for Vascular Surgery patients who may have other complicated preexisting conditions requiring additional monitoring. Patients admitted to CICU typically have a life-threatening cardiac-related crisis requiring expert and intensive care to promote recovery.
- Associate degree in nursing required.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
- Certification in specialty is desired.
- A minimum of four years' experience as practicing RN of which two years have been in a charge nurse role or relevant experience.
- Possesses an active Wisconsin and/or Michigan RN nursing license.
Current CPR certification. All clinical personnel in identified job codes are required to maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training through independent study, manikin, and knowledge testing. An acceptable CPR training program is the Basic Life Support (BLS) Health Care Provider course from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross Professional Rescuer Program with AED.
