Role Description

The Safety Specialist is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Wausau, WI. This position is responsible for supporting and improving workplace health and safety programs across manufacturing operations. Day‑to‑day tasks include conducting safety inspections and audits, identifying hazards, recommending corrective actions, and monitoring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The Safety Specialist develops and delivers safety training, maintains safety documentation and records, and assists with incident and accident investigations to determine root causes and preventive measures.

This role collaborates with supervisors and employees to promote a strong safety culture, supports Environment Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives, and participates in continuous improvement projects related to occupational health and safety.

Qualifications
  • Strong knowledge of Health & Safety and Occupational Health principles, with the ability to apply them in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Environment Health and Safety (EHS) programs, including regulatory compliance and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver effective Safety Training and communicate safety expectations clearly at all organizational levels.
  • Hands‑on experience with Accident Investigation, incident reporting, and root‑cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and relevant federal, state, and local safety regulations.
  • Excellent observation, problem‑solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and engage team members in safety initiatives.
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Professional safety certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, CHST, CSP, or similar) are a plus.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting is highly beneficial.
