Soil Laboratory Technician – Mi-Tech Services, Inc.

Mi-Tech is a full-service engineering, design, and construction firm. As a Soil Lab Technician you will receive and prepare soil and geotechnical samples for testing, perform various soil and geotechnical tests, record and analyze data, prepare laboratory reports, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. You will also maintain lab equipment, document procedures, collaborate with team members, and provide technical support and training.

Responsibilities
  • Receive and log soil and geotechnical samples from various locations and depths.
  • Prepare samples for testing (drying, sieving, etc.).
  • Properly classify and describe soil samples per ASTM requirements.
  • Follow standard testing procedures (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO).
  • Record and analyze data, prepare laboratory reports.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and document equipment usage and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with team members and provide technical support and training.
Qualifications
  • 1–5 years of laboratory experience, particularly with soil and/or geotechnical testing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in soil science, geosciences, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in using laboratory equipment and instruments.
  • Experience in receiving, preparing, classifying, and testing soil samples per ASTM or AASHTO standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
