Fleet Maintenance Manager
Overview
The Senior Municipal Fleet Technician performs maintenance and repair of the City’s fleet while serving as a working lead within the equipment services shop. In addition to hands-on technical work, this role supports daily shop operations by coordinating workflow, providing guidance and training to technicians, monitoring safety and quality standards, and assisting the Fleet Supervisor to ensure efficient, reliable fleet operations.

- 2nd Shift Position (Monday-Friday, 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) $1.45/hour Shift Differential pay.
- Starting hourly rate of $28.25 or higher depending on related qualifications
- Any work in excess of 8 hours per day is considered overtime (paid at 1 1/2 times regular rate of pay)
- Paid Training to obtain Class A Commercial Driver's License

Performs automotive and wide variety of equipment maintenance services, including the repair of engines, transmissions, axles, fuel, electrical and hydraulic components.
Fosters a productive and collaborative work environment by coordinating work efforts with other City departments and employees.
- Communicate with other senior staff about work assignments and schedules.
- Perform related work as required or assigned by the Fleet Manager and Fleet Supervisor.
- High school diploma or equivalent, and
- Formal course work in heavy equipment, medium/heavy truck, or automotive repair, and
- A minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in mechanic repair, and
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass the Class A written exams within 30 days of hire, and obtain a valid State of Wisconsin Commercial Driver's license (CDL) Class A with N Endorsement, without restrictions on air brakes within nine (9) months of hire.
Skills and Abilities
- Working knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic and electronic failure diagnosis and repair.
- Knowledge of welding, fabricating, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to work with hand and power tools. Must maintain good mechanical and electrical abilities and aptitude.
- Ability to cooperate and communicate with other members of the staff, supervisors, and public.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to follow directions and complete work and establish priorities.
- The employee must furnish small tools up to 1-1/4 necessary to perform all light and heavy duty equipment work
- ASE Certification
- EVT Certification
- Possession of a valid State of Wisconsin Commercial Driver's license (CDL) Class A with N Endorsement, without restrictions on air brakes.
