JOB REQUIREMENTS

The City of Wausau is hiring Part-Time Bus Drivers for Metro Ride. If you're a safe, dependable driver who enjoys working with people, this could be a great opportunity to join public transit and you do not need a CDL or previous bus-driving experience to apply. Metro Ride provides paid training, including the training needed to obtain a Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with air brake and passenger endorsements.

Schedule:

This regular part-time position works 20 hours per week. During the school year, drivers work Monday through Friday from 6:408:40 a.m. and 2:154:15 p.m. Summer hours are available and flexible, with 20 hours per week scheduled as five consecutive hours per day, four days per week. Part-time job. Real benefits. Part-time Bus Drivers are eligible for benefits including health and dental insurance, long-term disability insurance, paid holidays, vacation, personal holidays, and sick leave.

Bus Drivers safely operate Metro Ride buses along assigned routes, assist passengers, provide route and schedule information, perform vehicle inspections, operate transit equipment, and help provide safe and reliable transportation to the Wausau community. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license with a good driving record. Experience driving larger vehicles is helpful, but not required.

Part-time Bus Operators may also have the opportunity to move into full-time positions by seniority as vacancies occur. Ready to drive your future? Your route starts here.

OTHER EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Experience driving larger vehicles is helpful, but not required. Physical demands require those typically necessary to operate the transit vehicle including but not limited to, sitting for long periods, walking, constant arm movement, frequent turning of the head and neck while driving, as well as the ability to secure mobility devices and occasionally move (push/pull) up to 250 pounds. This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing.
