Job Title: Warehouse Coordinator/Driver

Reports To: Plant Manager

Shift: M-F, 6:30a-3p

Job Summary

The Warehouse Driver is responsible for supporting day-to-day departmental operations, performing assigned warehouse and transportation activities, and adhering to established safety and quality standards, including accurate cycle counts and inventory reconciliation.

Essential Duties
  • Support the Safety-First culture of Yellowstone Plastics and Volm Companies by ensuring safety policies are followed and team members maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Operate a company motor vehicle as an essential function of the role to transport materials, finished goods, and supplies between facilities and designated locations.
  • Assigns Warehouse employees tasks to help with shipping, receiving, and inventory functions.
  • Keep adequate supply of warehouse materials on hand.
  • Continuously walk plant floor checking for safety, quality, and cleanliness.
  • Report, investigate, and document all safety, quality, and process issues.
  • Proactively communicate with Supervisor regarding shipments and inventory.
  • Ensure all pallets/boxes have the correct label/pallet tag, are properly corner-boarded, banded, wrapped, and weighed in preparation for shipment.
  • Unpack, examine, and route incoming shipments, reject damaged items, record shortages, and correspond with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
  • Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Plant Manager.
  • Receive and process all defective material returned for replacement or credit.
  • Ensure forklifts are in good working condition and make sure forklift inspections are being done regularly.
  • Safely operate material handling equipment such as forklift, motor vehicle, hydraulic cart, pallet jack, etc., to move and stage materials and maintain the flow of production.
    • Perform all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods.
    • Utilize Microsoft Outlook to check email to keep up to date on communication and issues and update staff members as necessary.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
  • Ability to communicate in both the written and spoken language of English to a level that will allow the safe and effective performance of the job.

  • Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively lead a team and comply with employment laws and regulations.
  • Ability to effectively work with ERP system, spreadsheets, word processing documents, and other applicable computer systems and software.
  • Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
  • Capacity to calculate, analyze, and track figures and make competent decisions based on those figures.
  • Strong verbal, written, and group-presentation communication skills.
  • Communication, teamwork, and customer service skills are critical as employees are expected to work directly and indirectly with all levels of employees, customers, and outside vendors.
  • Consistently demonstrates a high level of responsibility and accountability.
Education and Experience
  • Knowledge of warehouse operations principles typically acquired through a minimum of one (1) year of relevant warehouse or distribution experience and/or completion of a technical certificate preferred
  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and DOT medical card required
  • Minimum of 1 year forklift experience preferred
Physical Requirements
  • Constant walking, talking, sitting, standing, repetitive motions, movements requiring fine motors skills and visual acuity.
  • Occasional climbing, kneeling, crouching, pulling, pushing, grasping, reaching, stooping, lifting (up to 50 pounds).
  • Work is typically performed in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment though certain tasks/projects may occur outside or in an office environment.
  • Safety glasses, steel/composite toed shoes, and hearing protection when working on production floor.
  • Work is typically performed in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment though certain tasks/projects may occur outside.
  • Employee is generally protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from high and low temperatures.
  • Sufficient noise regularly requires employee to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
  • Employee will be regularly exposed to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, stored potential energy, and working at heights of 4 or more feet.
  • Employees may be exposed to conditions that affect the respiratory system or skin such as fumes, odors, dust mists, gases, limited ventilation, oils, chemicals, cutting fluids, etc.
