Wauwatosa Summer School Position Summary

The role of the Summer School Dean is to supervise various campus programs while serving as a liaison between students/families, teachers, and the JK-12 Summer School Coordinator. The Summer School Dean will make a significant difference in the social, emotional and academic outcomes of ALL students through leadership and actions. The Summer School Dean of Students in the Wauwatosa School District is expected to provide consistent support and counsel to staff and to audaciously lead with an equity lens.

Qualifications
  • Relevant certification through the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction
  • 3 or more years of teaching experience and involvement in school leadership
  • Knowledge of effective teaching practices
  • Ability to design lessons that meet the educational needs of all students
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members
  • Knowledge of the key components of professional learning communities (preferred)
  • Knowledge of PBIS and MLSS (preferred)
  • Understanding of relevant Common Core standards (preferred)

  • Integrates key content elements and higher-level thinking skills in instruction.

  • Demonstrates accurate knowledge of the subject matter and relevant skills.
  • Bases instruction on goals that reflect high expectations and understanding of the subject.
  • Understands intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of the age group of students.
  • Uses precise language, correct vocabulary and grammar, and acceptable communication forms for the discipline/grade level.
  • Gains knowledge of school, family, and community resources to meet all students’ learning needs.
  • Demonstrates appropriate accommodations and modifications for diverse learners.
