Middle School Spanish Teacher for the 2026-27 school year
Christ King Parish School is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven, and highly engaging Middle School Spanish Teacher to serve students in grades 6-8 or 5-8. This position may range from 0.7 FTE to full-time depending on the candidate’s strengths and program development goals.

Position OverviewThe Middle School Spanish Teacher designs and delivers standards-based Spanish instruction using immersion strategies that emphasize listening, speaking, reading, and writing in the target language. The ideal candidate creates a classroom where Spanish is the primary language of instruction and where students build real communicative competence.
This educator plays a key role in shaping a vertically aligned Spanish program that equips students for continued language study at an advanced level in high school.
- Deliver immersive, proficiency-based Spanish instruction for grades 6-8 (or 5-8).
- Maintain consistent target-language use appropriate to student proficiency
- Design curriculum aligned with national world language standards
- Implement backwards design and clear proficiency targets
- Prepare students for high school Spanish placement beyond introductory level
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
- Use formative assessments to monitor language acquisition
- Integrate cultural studies authentically into instruction
- Establish a structured, energetic, and respectful learning environment
- Foster student confidence in speaking and risk‑taking in the target language
- Promote accountability and consistent language engagement
- Support and deepen the school’s Catholic culture
- Model Christian virtues in daily interactions
- Encourage appreciation for global cultures within a faith‑centered context
- Collaborate with administration to vertically align and strengthen the Spanish program
- Work closely with middle school colleagues to integrate interdisciplinary connections
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress
- Participate in faculty meetings and professional development
The candidate must:
- Demonstrate fluency in Spanish
- Utilize immersion-based or proficiency-based instructional practices
- Possess strong classroom management and instructional design skills
- Understand standards-based instruction and backwards design
- Desire to build and strengthen a vertically aligned language program
- Collaborate effectively with colleagues
- Reflect professionalism and commitment to Catholic education
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, World Language Education, or related field from an accredited institution preferred
- Valid teaching license or Archdiocesan equivalent
12 semester hours of credit in teacher education as part of, or in addition to, the degree - Compliance with all Archdiocesan child protection training and procedures
- Experience teaching middle school Spanish preferred
- Position: 0.7 FTE to Full-Time (depending on candidate and program needs)
- Type: Annual salary (prorated according to FTE)
- Employment Status: As designated in letter of employment or addendum
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
- Frequent use of hands and arms
- Close vision required for instructional materials and computer work
- Ability to use a computer, keyboard, monitor, and telephone
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Work performed in a classroom environment
