SummaryCarel USA is looking for an HVAC Controls Engineer who has a strong aptitude for designing and developing solutions for HVAC controls systems. This person should be a self‑starter, able to view different parts of the system as a whole and think outside the box.
This position will be responsible for the design and development of HVAC/R software solutions using programmable controllers and established product platforms. It will also assist in providing technical support within the region.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement programmable control solutions for the HVAC/R industry
- Train customers in the use of proprietary hardware and software solutions
- Interact with and visit customers as required to support the development of application software
- Assist customers in the development and implementation of control solutions
- Assess existing control logic to identify issues and potential improvements
- Possess working knowledge of the full range of product platforms
- Work with the sales team to determine customer control requirements
- Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to provide feedback based on customer requests, industry trends, and domain knowledge to develop and enhance electronic service offerings
- Provide support and troubleshooting to customers for Carel products and software solutions

QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
Education and Experience- 4‑year degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- One or more years of experience working with programmable controls and electronics in a technical or commercial role
- One or more years of experience in the HVAC/R industry
- Familiarity with IEC 61131‑3 Structured Text and Function Block Diagram programming
- Ability to read electrical schematics and process control diagrams
- Familiarity with automation protocols such as BACnet and Modbus
- Basic knowledge of networking/IT infrastructure
Excellent verbal and written skills are required. The candidate must possess the ability to communicate to a group of people and interact with customers.
Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsAny HVAC/R or ASHRAE certifications or registrations is a plus. ISO 9001, any Lean certification, or computer‑related certifications are also a plus.
Work EnvironmentThe work environment includes occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat, and moving mechanical parts. Noise levels are usually moderate. Travel for this position is up to 25%.
