Psychometrist II-- Department of Pediatrics

Summary

Conduct and score psychological/neuropsychological assessments. Assist in the collection of clinical research data and in the training of graduate students and residents in evaluation procedures.

• Independently perform psychological/neuropsychological testing of patients and research subjects.
• Assist with patient visits by preparing rooms and organizing equipment, supplies and instruments. Ensure that rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient.
• Greet and assist patients, and ensure that patient questions are managed appropriately.
• Facilitate testing through behavior management.
• Accurately score and summarize tests administered to patients and review scoring of completed testing.
• Write behavioral observations of patients for evaluation reports.
• Train graduate students and residents in evaluation procedures. Continually oversee the work of graduate students to ensure quality and consistency.
• Attend and participate in both departmental meetings and in-services to maintain professional expertise.
• Accept patient calls and provide responses regarding clinic visits, previous reports, recommendations, and diagnoses as needed.
• Learn to administer new tests. Provide presentations on new tests, normative data, administration techniques, etc. to faculty and residents.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of biology, clinical judgment, medicine, cultural awareness, and consulting.
• Medical documentation, interpersonal, practice-based learning and improvement, empathy, and decision making skills.

Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis.

Minimum Required

Education:

Bachelor’s degree

Required Experience:

1 year

Work requires occasionally lifting moderate weight materials, standing, or walking continuously.

Occasional exposure to dust, noise, temperature changes, or contact with water or other liquids. Work is performed in an environmentally controlled environment.

Ability to detect and translate speech or other communication required. May occasionally require the ability to distinguish colors and perceive relative distances between objects.
