Building Maintenance, Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
The Maintenance Lead is responsible for the maintenance and general repair of all CVI properties, including apartment turnovers. Utilizing the work order systems in place, the incumbent will assign work to other maintenance personnel as well as coordinate with third‑party contractors.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesSkills and Abilities
- Attention to safety in the work environment. Required knowledge of OSHA standards and how they apply to various work environments.
- Ability to effectively communicate clearly and concisely in both oral and written format.
- High levels of professionalism with different stakeholders.
- Strong carpentry skills.
- Strong mechanical skills.
- Must be flexible, and be able to maintain composure in difficult situations.
- Ability to relate to and interact with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Experience working with tenants who have a variety of disabling conditions and understanding how to communicate with individuals who may be suffering from PTSD or other trauma related emotional and mental issues.
- High school diploma.
- Minimum five years of related experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- Current auto insurance.
Work is generally performed in a variety of environments: office, interior operational settings, and outdoors, with frequent interruptions and irregularities in the work schedule. Incumbent may be exposed to extreme temperatures, close quarter situations, high and precarious places, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations. Incumbents are frequently required to travel between locations.
Physical RequirementsThis position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor in both adverse and comfortable conditions. There will be lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying of as much as 100 pounds in weight as well as kneeling, crouching and or crawling. The position requires good manual dexterity and the ability to use arms, legs and hands for both large and fine motor skills.
The Maintenance Lead is also responsible to ensure all work performed is completed in a safe manner in accordance with OSHA standards.
