JobOverview
The Quality Manager reports to the Senior Quality Manager. This role leads the quality initiatives and performance standards of our manufacturing processes. The position provides strategic leadership within the plant by prioritizing and communicating customer needs, providing feedback on plant quality performance, and facilitating teamwork to ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented and effective. The Quality Manager partners with the leadership team in developing and implementing long‑range plans to keep the facility competitive in quality.

- Utilize Lean principles, methodologies, and techniques to implement, execute, and oversee the quality processes at Shakopee.
- Provide development and guidance to the hourly and salaried workforce through coaching, partnering, and relationship building.
- Analyze manufacturing area operating results and implement corrective action to meet or exceed planned performance levels of quality, expense, efficiency, and inventory control.
- Plan manpower during peak and non‑peak operations, using contract language and processes to balance customer need and cost goals.
- Support the development and implementation of the capital plan to provide adequate capacity, aggressive quality improvement, and strong cost and asset control.
- Ensure component parts are manufactured to specification using a controlled and repeatable process.
- Partner with design and engineering groups in developing and proving out verification of new processes.
- Communicate with assembly plants to resolve daily issues and improve long‑term quality performance.
- Provide feedback to plant personnel on customer expectations and plant quality performance status.
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and create preventive standards to improve quality.
- Troubleshoot high‑complexity quality issues.
- Report overall plant and supplier quality performance, corrective and preventive action activity, current project status, and customer needs assessments on a regular basis.
- Provide technical support and training in latest quality techniques and philosophies to improve process control and nonconformance prevention; form and facilitate teams to address significant or recurrent quality issues using root‑cause/corrective‑action analysis.
- Ensure effective quality systems, personnel, and equipment resources are available, developed, and maintained.
- Ensure effective process controls and inspection procedures are identified and documented.
- Track and provide quality performance feedback to external suppliers; identify key issues and work with plant, purchasing, and supplier resources to resolve issues; consult with suppliers to upgrade their quality capabilities.
- Facilitate the implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001:2015 certification.
- Administer the auditing and corrective action portions of ISO 9001:2015.
- Create an environment that values employees, serves customers, and provides fair return to owners.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping, productivity, and work habits.
- Maintain calibration requirements for all tools and gauges in the facility.
- Communicate effectively at all levels to keep manufacturing aligned with corporate/division objectives.
