Faculty – Basic and/or Translational Blood Research

Versiti Blood Research Institute (VBRI), located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, seeks innovative investigators in blood research and related fields such as transfusion science, cell therapy, gene therapy, glycobiology, and vascular biology.

Applicants at all academic ranks with a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent are encouraged to apply.

Qualified candidates will have an established record of independent funding and leadership in basic and/or translational research and are expected to develop an innovative research program, obtain extramural funding, and actively participate in education, training, and mentorship.

VBRI houses 31 principal investigators in four programs:
Thrombosis and Hemostasis;
Transfusion Medicine, Vascular Biology and Cell Therapy;
Hematopoiesis; and Immunohematology. The institute is expanding and has plans to add 14 new principal investigators in the next 5-7 years, with a new research building under development.

Faculty typically hold appointments at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) in basic science or clinical departments, facilitating translational research. The institute’s proximity to the MCW, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, and Froedtert Hospital allows for extensive interdisciplinary collaboration.

Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree.

Track record of creativity and productivity with independent funding.
