Position PurposeAssistant Store Managers in Training are learning the various responsibilities and functions of the following roles:
Assistant Store Manager, Operations Assistant Store Manager, Night Operations Assistant Store Manager, and Specialty Assistant Store Manager. They will support the Store Manager in developing strategies and objectives to drive store sales and profitability, through effective leadership and communication to Associates.
- General Customer Service Initiatives – supervising Associates in sales, ensuring the store’s in‑stock position, and maintaining an appealing and organized store.
- Staffing and scheduling; identifying and resolving stock deficiencies; coaching and training associates in selling behaviors; resolving customer issues; supporting service needs for installed sales/special orders and product sales.
- Supervising Store Associates – interviewing, hiring, motivating, coaching, training, developing, and communicating to associates; managing performance reviews and disciplinary processes.
- Operations Management – supervising front‑end processes (sales/return transactions, special services, lot support), overseeing back‑end processes (receiving, freight coordination), and managing daily financial operations.
- Equipment and system operation; maintaining store standard operating procedures, especially safety compliance.
- Business Analysis and Merchandise Planning – driving department profitability through analysis of sales trends; working with Store Managers, Field Merchandising, MET Teams to plan merchandise placement; supporting stock integrity via inventory management.
Assistants in Training will report to a Store Manager and, upon completion, supervise associate work activities.
Travel RequirementsTypically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical RequirementsMostly seated work, with frequent movement; occasional lifting of light items.
Working ConditionsComfortable indoor environment; occasional unpleasant conditions are rare.
Minimum Qualifications- Must be 18 years of age or older.
