Job Summary

The Sales Associate position involves driving sales through exceptional customer service and knowledge of La‑Z‑Boy products and services. The role includes supporting the Design program, assisting the Designer, maintaining a positive customer experience, and contributing to store sales goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive sales and contribute to store sales goals by selling furniture, accessories, and services.
  • Promote the Design program and assist the Designer in meeting design program sales targets.
  • Consistently execute the La‑Z‑Boy selling process, providing a favorable experience to all customers.
  • Develop and utilize sales skills and principles—including approach, rapport building, needs discovery, customized portfolio presentations, objection handling, closing, follow‑up, after‑sale service, and continuing contact with customers.
  • Maximize store promotions, marketing initiatives, and grassroots programs.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of existing and new product lines.
  • Schedule professional home consultations to present customized room designs, including sample fabrics, furniture, tables, and accessory recommendations.
  • Execute and champion the Design process following company guidelines.
  • Support design‑related functions in the store.
  • Provide the highest level of customer service, using good service skills and product knowledge and following the selling process.
  • Use Podium to ensure customer satisfaction and future follow‑up.
  • Make sound business decisions to deliver customer satisfaction and promote a team environment.
  • Assist with incoming phone calls and emails, handling customer issues and complaints with appropriate solutions.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all store employees.
  • Assist in training, coaching, and developing new peers on product knowledge and selling processes.
  • Promote and champion a culture of sales and service.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the store’s visual appearance, floor displays, tagging products, accessories, and design center fabrics.
  • Accurately complete order information, collect deposits and fees, maintain orderly customer records, and research payments and deliveries.
  • Accurately complete daily On‑Point system logs.
  • Show urgency, enthusiasm, and excitement with the store team and customers.
  • Maintain knowledge of company standards, product knowledge, and internal processes and systems.
  • Schedule deliveries with customers.
  • Open and close the store as needed.
Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous selling experience and ability to close a sale strongly preferred.
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building rapport and influencing positively.
  • Demonstrated persuasion and negotiation skills.
  • Effective time management and the ability to handle conflicting priorities.
  • Proficient team player who can work productively with others.
  • Availability to work the schedule and hours dictated by business needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong attention to detail and initiative to meet goals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to pass a background and drug screen.
Preferred Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field.
Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive hand motions.
  • Requires sitting, walking, bending, and stooping.
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions.
Compensation

Training Pay: $15 per hour for 2‑6 weeks (no commission). After training, average annual earning potential ranges from $35,000 to $55,000+ (inclusive of base, bonus, and commission). Base pay varies by store location, with a minimum wage adjustment as required. Commission rates: 3% on La‑Z‑Boy Design sales and 2% on other sales, with a quarterly bonus opportunity of $1,500 based on meeting defined individual goals.
