Position Title:
Electrician Wage: $22.00 - $30.00/hour
Shift: 1st
Hours:
7:00am - 3:30pm Our client in Milwaukee, WI is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Electrician to support the refurbishment, maintenance, installation, and testing of electrical systems on passenger rail vehicles. The ideal candidate will have experience reading electrical schematics, installing and troubleshooting electrical components, and working in a manufacturing or industrial environment. This direct hire position plays a critical role in ensuring railcars meet quality, safety, and customer requirements.
Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components on passenger railcars
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Perform electrical wiring, cable routing, termination, and connection of electrical equipment
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues using appropriate testing equipment
- Install and test lighting systems, control panels, HVAC electrical components, communication systems, and other railcar electrical equipment
- Perform continuity, voltage, resistance, and functional testing
- Document completed work and maintain accurate maintenance and production records
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve electrical issues
- Follow all company safety procedures, industry regulations, and quality standards
- Assist with commissioning, testing, and final inspections of completed railcars
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized manner
- High School Diploma or GED;
Technical degree, vocational training, or apprenticeship in Electrical Technology preferred - At least two years of electrical experience in industrial, manufacturing, transportation, construction, or maintenance environments
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
- Experience using electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and continuity testers
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of electrical safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and varying temperatures
- Ability to distinguish colors for electrical wiring identification
- Experience with rail, automotive, heavy equipment, aerospace, or industrial manufacturing preferred
- Knowledge of AC/DC systems, control circuits, and electrical panels preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
- Experience working with low-voltage and high-voltage systems is a plus
