Cost Accountant / Senior Accountant – Manufacturing | Stable, Growth-Oriented Company
Salary: $90,000 – $115,000 base + 6–10% profit sharing
Work Model: On-site | Northeast Iowa (within commuting distance of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls metro)
This is a well-rounded accounting role within a profitable, privately held specialty manufacturing company that continues to invest in both its people and its systems. The position blends traditional general ledger responsibilities with operational and cost accounting exposure, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both the technical accounting side and partnering closely with the business.
You’ll play a key role supporting day-to-day accounting operations while also helping enhance and implement processes within a new ERP system — including building out and improving cost and inventory functionality. This role offers strong visibility, meaningful ownership, and the opportunity to help shape how accounting supports the business going forward.
The culture is collaborative, practical, and hands-on, with close partnership between finance and plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:• Support month-end and year-end close activities including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting
• Maintain general ledger accuracy across inventory, manufacturing, and operational accounts
• Assist with standard costing, inventory valuation, and variance analysis
• Partner with operations leaders to provide financial insights on spending, margins, and performance trends
• Lead or support ERP enhancements and implementations, including configuration and optimization of cost and inventory modules
• Help design, document, and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting workflows within the ERP
• Assist with cycle counts, physical inventory, and internal control procedures
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning activities
• Prepare ad hoc analyses and reporting to support leadership decision-making
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, audit requirements, and strong internal controls
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–7+ years of accounting experience in manufacturing or inventory-based environments
• Strong general ledger and month-end close experience
• ERP system experience required; involvement in implementations or system improvements strongly preferred
• Exposure to cost or inventory accounting concepts (standard costing, variances, inventory controls)
• Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
• Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and explain financial concepts clearly
• Process improvement mindset and comfort working in an on-site, plant-based environment
• Self-starter who enjoys both tactical accounting work and system/process projects
