Overview
The Innovation Assembler at UEA is a hybrid role that bridges Innovation and Quality Assurance. This position is essential for supporting innovative product development, ensuring manufacturability, maintaining quality standards, and assisting with the evaluation of designs and processes. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical assembly expertise and quality assurance experience, contributing to the continuous improvement of UEA's products and processes.
RequirementsREPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: This position reports to the Design Engineer.
Education: Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
Experience: 2+ years of assembly. Hands-on experience with mechanical and/or electrical assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
Skills:
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
- Basic understanding of Lean manufacturing principles and root cause analysis tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Experience with CAD software is a plus.
- Assemble prototypes based on engineering designs, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Ensure high precision and quality in assembly processes.
- Conduct functional tests on prototypes to ensure performance meets design specifications.
- Record, analyze, and report test results to the Innovation team.
- Collaborate with engineers to identify improvements in product design and manufacturability.
- Provide feedback on assembly processes to improve efficiency and product reliability.
- Maintain detailed records of assembly procedures and test results.
- Assist in creating and updating work instructions and technical documentation.
- Operate and maintain tools and equipment used in the Innovation lab.
- Perform routine maintenance and ensure the lab is well-organized and functional.
- Work closely with production, quality, and engineering teams to ensure a smooth transition of products from prototype to production.
- Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for assembly or design-related issues.
- Operate and maintain testing and assembly equipment, ensuring a safe and organized workspace.
- Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to lab, workshop, and production floor environments.
- Flexible working hours may be required to meet deadlines.
