Scope of PositionReporting to the Mill Supervisor, this position’s primary responsibility is to work with safety in mind for each task encountered. A laborer is used where necessary to maintain continuity of mill operations.
Essential Functions- Primary job is to be trained for the bottom positions in each department:
Production Utility, Power Utility, Paper Tester and Truck Dump Operator. This covers vacation relief and any other reason a vacancy occurs. - A laborer should also be trained in the shipping department in case an extra Material Handler is needed.
- Laborers are used in the housekeeping of the mill.
- Laborers may be used in the storing of machine clothing. Racks on the machine floor and the ground floor are provided for such purposes.
- Laborers are trained to use the skid steer and the forklift. These pieces of equipment are frequently used for cleaning and moving materials.
- A laborer may be asked to help maintain continuity of mill operations, such as digging broke from the dryer sections, helping on the washers in the pulp mill, helping at OCC with a ragger or in the Woodyard at the truck dump.
- Minimum GED or high school diploma.
- Abilities to perform the required tasks.
- Personal protective equipment is required, including hard hats, safety glasses and face shields, hearing protection, protective clothing, safety and waterproof boots, respiratory protection, gloves.
- Work 12‑hour shifts.
- Overtime may be required to sustain mill operations.
- Work in cold, hot, wet and dimly lit environments.
- Climb ladders and stairs to access elevated work areas, and stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Lifting, carrying or moving materials up to 75 lbs at times.

Job Type: Full‑time
Salary: $24.26 per hour
