SNI Companies is partnered with a Manufacturing company to oversee payroll tax compliance and ensure accurate and timely processing of federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements. This position will be responsible for payroll tax filings, reconciliations, compliance reporting, and resolving tax-related issues while partnering closely with Payroll, Accounting, HR, and external tax agencies.
Responsibilities
- Manage and review federal, state, and local payroll tax filings and payments.
- Ensure accurate and timely payroll tax deposits and compliance with applicable deadlines.
- Reconcile payroll tax liabilities and payroll-related general ledger accounts.
- Research and resolve payroll tax discrepancies, notices, and agency inquiries.
- Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax returns, including applicable federal and state forms.
- Support year-end payroll tax activities, including W-2 and W-2C processing.
- Monitor changes in federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and ensure systems and processes remain compliant.
- Maintain accurate employee tax records, including federal, state, and local withholding information.
- Assist with multi-state payroll tax requirements and registrations.
- Partner with Payroll and Accounting teams to identify and correct tax-related errors.
- Respond to payroll tax notices and coordinate with tax agencies as needed.
- Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation for payroll tax and compliance reviews.
- Maintain organized records of filings, payments, reconciliations, and correspondence.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll tax processes, controls, and reporting.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in payroll tax, payroll, accounting, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
- Experience with payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end reporting.
- Experience handling multi-state payroll tax requirements preferred.
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to work with large datasets and perform reconciliations.
- Experience with payroll systems and tax filing platforms.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPP or FPC certification preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Experience with payroll tax software or systems such as ADP, Workday, UKG, Paycom, or similar platforms.
- Experience supporting payroll tax audits and agency examinations.
