Position Summary
The ASU Plant Manager has overall responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of the Air Separation Plant used in the production of medical cryogenic liquids and industrial pipeline gases on a local level. These duties include quality control, personnel staffing and training issues; safety, health and environmental regulatory compliance; process optimization, equipment maintenance and supervision of operating and capital expenditures.
The ASU Plant Manager reports to the ASU Regional Operations Manager.
- Achievement of all safety, production, efficiency, quality and budgetary targets for the plant
- Recruiting and hiring of operators and technicians at the local level
- Supervision of all planned and unplanned plant outages
- Implementation and execution of all Department Initiatives
- Coordination of all plant maintenance activities
- Coordination of production scheduling with Product Management and Logistics Departments
- Support of the Sales Team
- Qualify and supervise vendors and contractors
- Assist department head with data and budgetary preparations and presentations.
- Operate the plant in instances where there is a need.
- Willingness to be "on call" 24/7 for plant needs of any kind, (personnel, equipment, customer problems)
- Complete knowledge of all MTG safety, compliance and quality policies.
- Complete knowledge of all MTG personnel policies as they relate to ASU's
- Complete knowledge of all local pipeline contracts and obligations

Education / Experience / Technological Knowledge- A High School diploma and minimum of 10 years industry experience in the production of medical and industrial atmospheric gases. Bachelor degree in engineering (chemical or mechanical) desired.
- Experience interacting with Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies (FDA, EPA, OSHA, DHS, etc.)
- Experience implementing and maintaining quality systems including ISO and FSSC 22000
- Experience implementing and maintaining Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Understanding the principles of Cryogenic Air Separation
- Understanding the mechanical principles of rotating equipment
- Computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Understanding of General Accounting Techniques
- Basic statistical and analytical skills
- Possession of a valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Comfortable with public speaking
