-IV for our Ellis/Navarro Area Office located in Waxahachie! This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a wide range of impactful projects, including preventive maintenance, roadway rehabs, and bridge replacements. You'll be involved in preparing Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) while ensuring designs meet current standards and coordinating with project stakeholders. Title/Salary Grade Transportation Specialist I B19: $48,244 - $76,028 Transportation Specialist II B20: $51,158 - $81,351 Transportation Specialist III B21: $54,278 - $87,046 Transportation Specialist IV B22: $57,614 - $93,138 The Texas Department of Transportation reserves the sole right in determining the level of position based on the applicant's work experience, education, skill level, and all other appropriate factors, and based on business needs.

Position Description Transportation Specialist I:
Provides technical expertise and coordination for transportation programs involving design, building construction projects, construction of transportation systems, traffic operations, maintenance of highways and facilities, or bridge inspection and appraisal in accordance with Department standards. Assists with project planning and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities.
Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Transportation Specialist II:
Provides technical expertise and coordination for transportation programs involving multiple design and/or building construction projects, construction of transportation systems, traffic operations, maintenance of highways and facilities, or bridge inspection and appraisal in accordance with Department standards. Assists with project planning and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities.
Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the Transportation Specialist III:
Provides technical expertise and coordination for transportation programs involving multiple design and/or advanced building construction projects, construction of transportation systems, traffic operations, maintenance of highways and facilities, or bridge inspection and appraisal in accordance with Department standards. Assists with project planning and oversight, and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities.
Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Transportation Specialist IV:
Provides high-level technical expertise and coordination for transportation programs involving multiple design and/or advanced building construction projects, construction of transportation systems, traffic operations, maintenance of highways and facilities, or bridge inspection and appraisal in accordance with Department standards. Assists with project planning and oversight and the development of policies and procedures for area of responsibility. Work requires contact with governmental officials, consultants, contractors and private entities.
