Quality Lab Technician
Quality Lab Technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, measuring, and documenting products or materials to ensure they meet company, customer, and regulatory quality standards. This role supports manufacturing and quality assurance teams by performing laboratory tests, operating inspection equipment, maintaining records, and helping investigate quality issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform inspections and laboratory testing on raw materials, in-process parts, and finished products
- Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and optical systems
- Record and analyze test data accurately
- Maintain quality documentation, inspection reports, and test records
- Identify nonconforming materials and communicate findings to production and quality teams
- Support root cause investigations and corrective actions
- Conduct first article inspections and capability studies when required
- Insure calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, measuring tools and gauges
- Follow company quality systems, safety procedures, and work instructions
- Support audits and compliance activities
Required Skills &
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical degree preferred
- Experience in manufacturing, quality inspection, or laboratory testing preferred
- Ability to read blueprints, drawings, GD&T, and specifications
- Familiarity with quality tools and methods: SPC PFMEA Control Plans Root Cause Analysis 8D problem solving
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Basic computer skills (Excel, ERP/MES systems, quality software)
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in industrial manufacturing or equivalent environment.
- Experience using CMM software or vision systems
- Understanding of metrology and calibration practices
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs occasionally
- Good vision and manual dexterity for detailed inspections
