Experience Required

Holt CAT in Waxahachie, Texas is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment-Shop Service Technician. This position is responsible for providing high-quality repair service on heavy equipment in a shop environment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed. At least 3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills of heavy equipment such as dozers, backhoes, front‑end loaders, excavators, etc.

The hours of the position are Monday‑Friday, 7 AM - 4 PM. Our address is 500 Austin Road, Waxahachie, Texas 75165.

Mid-level position – Generally has more than four years of experience and/or demonstrated job relevant knowledge/skills. A Level III Technician has moderate knowledge of the field’s standard and technical concepts, practices, and procedures. Level III Technician performs a variety of standard, complex, and technical tasks; is indirectly supervised and self‑starting; often a team member on a large project.

Essential Functions
  • Models, promotes, reinforces, and rewards the consistent use of HOLT’s Values Based Leadership (VBL) tools, models, and processes to ensure alignment with our Vision, Values, and Mission
  • Troubleshoot and perform complex repairs correctly in the shop such as pumps, hydraulic, engine, transmissions, HVAC, and electrical issues and repairs
  • At least 3 years of field or shop service tech troubleshooting and repair skills of heavy equipment such as dozers, backhoes, front‑end loaders, excavators, scrappers, motor graders, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment using electronic and manual equipment to determine failure
  • Ability to troubleshoot Tier 4 Emissions / Aftertreatment systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot Exhaust Gas Recirculation Systems
  • Demonstrates good customer relations and support; communicates customer needs to shop management
  • Plans and controls cost of repair jobs
  • Completes parts orders and identifies parts for return
  • Mentors and helps train other technicians
  • Maintains all equipment and work areas – keeps in good, clean, and orderly condition
  • Completes all documents associated with repairs in a timely manner
  • Works safely at all times and adheres to all applicable safety policies; complies with all company policies, procedures, and standards
  • Works overtime as required by workload and customers’ needs
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; e.g., Pro Tech Technician Training Paths
  • Requires regular and punctual employee attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
