Overview

The Universal Banker II combines the roles of teller and seller to provide exceptional service to members and potential members. The position offers a base salary of $25.00 per hour, participation in the Universal Banker Incentive Program, and a comprehensive benefits package including Medical, Dental, Vision, and a 401(k) company match.

Responsibilities
  • Greet members in a welcoming manner and ensure they feel valued and connected to Georgia’s Own Credit Union, whether in person, by phone, or digitally.
  • Receive and process financial transactions—including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, loan/credit card payments, loan advances, issue savings/cashier’s checks, and redeem savings bonds—and maintain balancing records.
  • Apply Credit Union policies and procedures to handle complaints, special situations, and maintain compliance.
  • Perform miscellaneous branch tasks such as balancing ATM, executing branch capture, completing branch recap, maintaining member accounts, processing night depository transactions, acting as the vault teller, and other related duties.
  • Support branch operational ratings and corporate audits, and comply with federal, state, and local laws.
  • Open and close Consumer and Business Membership accounts, perform related account maintenance, and resolve membership concerns.
  • Notarize and/or guarantee signatures where authorized.
  • Process loan applications, notify members of loan decisions, review documentation, and witness signing of loan documents.
  • Perform supervisory overrides, approve checks, file maintenance, and execute supervisory duties as authorized.
  • Assess members’ financial needs through consultative questioning, recommend deposit and loan products, and educate members on credit union services.
  • Collaborate with internal experts to provide creative solutions, resolve issues, and improve members’ financial well‑being.
  • Document member interactions in the IRM system, ensuring timely follow‑up.
  • Provide inbound and outbound telephone services, including transactions and problem resolution.
  • Support business development and community outreach efforts.
  • Serve as onboarding specialist and training partner for new employees.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Three to five years of experience in a financial branch or comparable retail sales environment.
  • Coverage at other branches and Saturday rotation as needed.
  • Strong communication skills in written and verbal formats at all levels.
  • Experience with loan application process and internal operating policies.
  • Knowledge of industry offers, market trends, competitors, and credit union lending policies.
  • Ability to interpret and apply financial information—including credit scores, debt, assets, balances, payments, interest rates—and perform mathematical calculations.
  • Analytical thinking, problem solving, decision making, judgment, and research skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must pass a background check including credit, drug screen, bondability, and criminal background.
Physical Requirements

Employees must communicate face‑to‑face or via technology, sit and stand for varied intervals, lift or push up to 10 lbs, perform clerical duties, and comply with the SAFE ACT and related regulatory requirements.
