Job Summary And Qualifications What you will do in this role:
  • Verify patient identification before transporting.
  • Safely and properly transport patient to and from vehicle and/or other area of the hospital as requested, continually communicating with appropriate staff on transport.
  • Ensure call light is within patient reach.
  • Communicate with nursing staff concerning patient transport method.
  • Promptly report changes on patient’s condition during transportation to nursing staff.
  • Maintain all transport equipment and linens.
  • Check proper operational status of wheelchairs and stretchers daily; ensure cleanliness and request repairs as needed.
  • Keep a full O2 tank on transport equipment at all times.
  • Demonstrate efficient, effective and prompt responses to all crisis situations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patients, families and employees.
  • Maintain a safe environment complying with Infection Control, OSHA, and JCAHO standards, Environment of Care policies and Patient’s Rights.
Qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • High School Graduate / GED.
