Educational Assistant & Office Liaison Position Summary

The Educational Assistant & Office Liaison is a dual-role position that supports both the daily operations of the school office and the social, emotional, and academic development of students. This individual serves as a key member of the school community by providing administrative support to school leadership while also supervising and coaching students during recess, transitions, and designated skill‑building periods.

Office Liaison Responsibilities
  • Serve as a welcoming first point of contact for students, families, staff, and visitors.
  • Answer and direct phone calls, emails, and general inquiries.
  • Support daily office operations and administrative procedures.
  • Assist with maintaining student attendance records and documentation.
  • Prepare correspondence, reports, newsletters, and school communications.
  • Maintain confidential student and staff records.
  • Support scheduling, calendar management, and meeting coordination.
  • Assist with student registration, enrollment, and withdrawal processes.
  • Manage office supplies and coordinate purchasing requests.
  • Provide administrative support to the principal and school leadership team.
  • Assist with school‑wide events, family engagement activities, and special projects.
Educational Assistant Responsibilities Student Supervision and Support
  • Active supervision of students may include times during recess, transitions, lunch periods, arrival, dismissal, and/or other assigned times.
  • Foster a safe, inclusive, and positive school climate.
  • Reinforce school expectations and promote positive student behavior.
Independent Student Skill Development Programming
  • Facilitate (classroom teacher planned) structured independent and small‑group skill‑building sessions for students.
  • Guide students in (classroom teacher planned) workplace‑style learning experiences that promote responsibility, perseverance, and independence.
  • Support students in completing (classroom teacher planned) self‑directed learning activities and goal‑setting exercises.
  • Facilitate workplace math activities, games, and challenges that strengthen practical math and problem‑solving skills.
  • Guide students through social‑emotional learning activities, reflection journals, and independent workbooks.
  • As needed, collaborate with classroom teachers, counselors, and administrators to support student growth and development.
Data Collection and Communication
  • Maintain records of student participation and progress in skill development activities.
  • Share observations and feedback with school staff as appropriate.
  • Communicate effectively with families and staff regarding student growth and successes.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information.
  • Participate in professional learning opportunities and staff meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal that support school operations and student success.
Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working with children in an educational, recreational, or youth‑development setting.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professional judgment.

Preferred
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous administrative assistant experience.
  • Experience working in a school setting.
  • Experience facilitating social‑emotional learning, executive functioning supports, or student mentoring programs.
  • Knowledge of student information systems and educational technology platforms.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to establish positive rapport with elementary‑aged students.
  • Knowledge of child development and age‑appropriate behavior supports.
  • Ability to facilitate engaging student activities and independent learning opportunities.
