Position:
Teaching Assistant, Happy Hollow

Position Summary:

Wayland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Teaching Assistant to join our team. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of students.

Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):

* Provide academic support to students in classroom and small-group settings

* Assist classroom teachers in implementing instructional activities and lessons

* Support students in completing assignments and classroom projects

* Help prepare, organize, and maintain instructional materials and classroom resources

* Facilitate student participation in classroom activities and routines

* Reinforce classroom expectations and positive behavior strategies

* Assist with classroom management and supervision as directed by the classroom teacher

* Supervise students and program activities as directed by the immediate supervisor

* Support students' social-emotional development and foster positive peer interactions

* Work collaboratively with teachers, specialists, and school staff to support student success

* Communicate with families regarding classroom activities when appropriate and directed by the classroom teacher or administrator

* Participate in training and professional development as required

* Work collaboratively with district and school staff to promote equitable access and address systemic barriers

* Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Education:

High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience:

Previous experience working with school-aged children is highly preferred.

Competency:

Experience with diverse populations and a strong commitment to Wayland's goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Professionalism:
Strong communication skills and the personal characteristics necessary to serve as a positive role model for students.

Education and Experience:

* Advanced Degree:
Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred

* DESE Licensure:
Not required; paraprofessional certification preferred

* SEI Endorsement:
Not required

Work Schedule and Compensation:

Hours:

30.08 per week

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:45am-2:30pm

Wednesday: 7:30am-1:35pm

Salary: $25.63-$33.89 an hour
