Quality Engineer
Atkore is a leading provider of electrical, safety and infrastructure solutions. We are seeking a Quality Engineer based in Wayne, MI to report to the Quality Assurance Manager. The role focuses on meeting customer expectations for delivery and quality through the implementation, training, and adherence of corporate and plant quality procedures. You will apply engineering principles and analytical techniques to continuously improve manufacturing processes and product quality, lead root‑cause analysis and corrective action implementation, and ensure that quality procedures support standardization and sustainability of manufacturing processes.

- Support the manufacturing operation through product inspections, product testing, data analysis, and customer‑required documentation.
- Perform technical testing using 3D scanners, tensile strength machines, and hardness testing equipment.
- Oversee special projects, including the upscaling of the quality program, documentation, certificate of conformance, and material testing.
- Support the RMA process by approving receipt and credit order issuance.
- Work closely with production leadership to ensure all processes are accurately documented and updated properly.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field or 2+ years’ relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing environment; metal stamping experience preferred.
- Advanced knowledge and practical application of common inspection gauges, product drawings, problem‑solving, and process improvement tools and techniques.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, ERP systems, and structured quality programs preferred.
Within 3 months, you will complete your Atkore Immersion Program, understand how your role supports the company’s strategy, and independently perform product inspections.
Within 6 months, you will update process documents (work instructions, PFMEA, control plans, training materials, and procedures), lead root‑cause and corrective action teams and report to plant leadership, and support the plant’s safety and lean manufacturing initiatives through audits and Kaizen events.
Within 12 months, you will lead the internal RMA process, identify and lead data‑driven process improvement projects, and support reporting of metrics to all levels of management.
Compensation and BenefitsGood faith estimate of the current pay range is $63,440 – $87,230 per year. Compensation may include overtime, shift differentials, bonuses, commissions, stock, and other incentives. Benefits include medical, vision, and dental insurance; life insurance; short‑term and long‑term disability insurance; 401(k); paid time off; paid holidays; and any leave required under federal, state, or local law.
