POSITION SUMMARYThis position is within the Wayne Police Department. Officers will make arrests, enforce laws, conduct traffic enforcement, engage in community policing, and other police matters.
ABOUT THE WAYNE POLICE DEPARTMENTThe Wayne Police Department is looking for qualified candidates to fill the position of Police Officer. The Wayne Police Department is in southeast Michigan, just north of Detroit Metropolitan Airport. We are a six-square-mile city bordered by Westland, Canton, and Romulus.
The Wayne Police Department is a seven-day-a-week department, working 12-hour shifts. The 12-hour shift schedule provides officers with a three-day weekend every other weekend. The Wayne Police Department has multiple special units, including the Detective Bureau, K9, Accident Investigation, Quick Response Team, School Resource Officer, and Drone Team.
The Wayne Police Department has a relaxed tattoo and facial hair policy. We allow external vest carriers. We have an on-site gym and gun range.
Salary range for the Police Officer position is $63,000 - $84,001 yearly.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS- 21 years of age of older
- Must possess current Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES) licensing or be licensable prior to job posting deadline.
- Must take EMPCO test prior to hire
- Must maintain a valid Michigan driver's license and have no more than three points on driving record.
- Must maintain the State of Michigan-mandated firearms qualification
- No Domestic Violence Convictions or Felony Convictions
- Prior to the date of hire, selected candidates will undergo and must successfully pass a drug test, physical, psychological exam, and a thorough background investigation.
Applicants must maintain M.C.O.L.E.S. certification for the duration of the hiring process. Must possess good moral character as determined by a favorable background investigation covering school, employment records home environment and personal traits and integrity.
