Job Overview

This position serves as a Veterans’ Career Advisor (VCA) in the Michigan Works Agency System, providing individualized career services within a case management framework to a targeted veteran population who are unlikely to obtain employment without such services. The VCA coordinates additional services to help a veteran become "job ready," thereby increasing employability.

Must be a qualified service‑connected disabled veteran or a qualified eligible veteran in accordance with priorities set forth in Title 38, Chapter 41 of the United States Code as amended by Public Law 107‑288.

Perform a wide range of employment service assignments in a developing capacity, under the supervision of the Employment Services Manager, including case management, career counseling, job readiness training, and coordination of additional services to support veteran employment.

• Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits).

• No specific type or amount is required for Employment Service Interviewer 9.
• One year of experience equivalent to an Employment Service Interviewer 9 for level E10.
• Four years of office support experience with public contacts, in a business or industrial setting, including two years equivalent to the experienced (E7) level, may be substituted for the education requirement.

Limited‑term position with an expiration date.

Salary for this position is entirely federally funded. Under federal law an employee whose salary is entirely federally funded may not be a candidate for public office in a partisan election.
