Job Summary

The Optician role includes helping customers achieve the right type of eyeglasses, lenses, or contact lenses in accordance with their eyesight. Opticians work as part of a team of eye care professionals, including optometrists, and typically assist patients who have had an eye exam and received a prescription. They provide excellent customer service, build relationships, and style eyewear to fit needs and personality.
Average commission range is $350‑$750 per month.
SVS offers an employee referral bonus and supplemental earning potential for opticians in addition to their regular compensation, free designer glasses each year, and significant discounts.
Duties and Responsibilities- Providing excellent customer service
- Interpreting eye examination results using prescriptions written by doctors
- Dispensing eyewear
- Assisting customers in selecting frames and lenses
- Providing contact lens instructions
- Adjusting or repairing eyewear
- Communicating with doctors regarding patient recommendations
- Willingly traveling between stores if needed
- Meeting and exceeding personal/store sales goals
- Answering phones to assist patients
- Scheduling appointments and managing the appointment book
- Participating in an active and busy environment
