We are currently looking for a Tool & Die Maker to be based out of Wayne, MI. 1st shift position for a candidate with experience. The hourly wage rate for those holding a Journeyman card is $36.84. Reporting to the Tool & Die Manager, this person will be responsible for making and maintaining all types of tools, dies, and fixtures.
What you’ll doAdditional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot machine assemblies to perform necessary repairs on tools, manually-operated dies, and progressive dies
- Ensure accuracy of work performed by conducting test runs on tools and/or dies to ensure all components meet specifications
- Ability to make adjustments to work performed when needed
- Ability to independently select the proper metals and materials to meet project specifications
- Set up and operate both conventional and CNC machine tools
- Interface with internal and external customers to ensure demands are being met
- Responsible for the accurate completion of all paperwork, transactions, tags, etc.
- Adhere to all Life Saving Rules, including:
Lock-Out, Tag-Out (LOTO), Machine Guarding/Bypassing Safety Controls, and Powered Industrial Truck (PIT) safety protocols - Ensure Safety, Delivery, Quality, and Cost metrics are met daily
- Support 5S initiatives in assigned work areas
- Other job duties as assigned
- High School Diploma/GED
- Experience using CAD and CNC software preferred
- 1 – 3 years of manufacturing experience preferred
- Journeyman cardholder status required
- Basic math and verbal skills
- Excellent technical skills, to include the ability to problem-solve and troubleshoot mechanical issues
- Ability to learn to use and maintain equipment and machinery
- Flexibility of shift scheduling, to include overtime and weekends
