Tote Cleaning Instructions

Required:

Steel Toe Shoes/Boots Uniform Goggles Hand Protection

Instructions:

Tote is set on the stand for cleaning & tote is grounded

Tote is opened and batch ticket is read to determine the solvent to use.

Highest % of solvent in batch is the solvent to be used If water-based product use IPA

Get a used 5-gallon pail and put no more than 3 gallons of solvent in it

Put a ground clamp on the pail and lower into tote with pulley

Using a static free brush; scrub the inside of tote with solvent

Set another used pail under valve for draining and bond it to the tote.

Put used solvent, if it cannot be used again, in the waste drum using a bond

Waste drum should already be grounded.

The above process may be repeated depending on how dirty the tote is

Splash the upper half of tote with solvent using S.S. cup provided, ground it first.

Finish cleaning inside tote with rag if needed

Using a static free wire brush, clean the valve while pail is still there, & grounded

Remove valve from tote and clean.

Finish cleaning valve with rag if needed

Close lid of tote completely with gasket and tighten bolt

Shower caps are put on totes from Flint and totes from Tankers

Place tag on tote stating Date, Solvent used and your Initials
