As a Logistics Manager based out of our Wayne, MI yard, you will lead a team of drivers while coordinating daily logistics operations to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality waste collection services. Acting as a liaison between drivers, customers, and internal teams, you will provide real‑time support, oversee route performance, and drive continuous improvements to enhance both the driver and customer experience.
Dutiesand Responsibilities
- Supervise and support a team of drivers, including daily oversight, coaching, and performance management.
- Assign and adjust routes and carrier responsibilities to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Provide real‑time support to drivers throughout their routes, resolving service, safety, and equipment issues.
- Serve as the escalation point for customer concerns, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Communicate with drivers and internal teams via phone, Microsoft Teams chat, and video.
- Collaborate with logistics, customer service, and quality teams to drive service excellence.
- Track, trace, and update the status of daily waste removal routes using internal systems.
- Monitor route performance and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and cost savings.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with onboarding and training of new drivers and provide ongoing coaching.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and implement operational enhancements.
- Monitor waste storage areas, documentation, equipment and procedures from the Wayne, MI yard.
- 2+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or a related field; supervisory experience required.
- Strong knowledge of routing, dispatch, and fleet operations.
- Proven leadership, communication, and team development skills.
- Ability to problem‑solve, prioritize, and operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and logistics/route management systems.
- Customer‑focused with strong organizational and time‑management abilities.
