Interim Controller
Warren, NJ | Full-Time | Onsite | Interim Opportunity
We are partnering with a growing organization in the Warren, NJ area to identify an experienced Interim Controller to lead the accounting function during a critical transition period. This is a hands‑on leadership role ideal for an accomplished accounting professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and can quickly make an impact.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the day‑to‑day accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll, general ledger, inventory, and fixed assets.
- Oversee the month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes.
- Prepare and review financial statements, account reconciliations, and financial analyses.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state tax regulations, and sales & use tax requirements.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls while supporting external audits.
- Oversee customer credit approvals and 1099 reporting.
- Analyze inventory valuation, aging, and margin performance.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while identifying opportunities for process improvements.
- Partner with executive leadership to provide financial reporting and strategic business insights.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required;
CPA strongly preferred
. - 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience managing audits and working directly with external CPA firms.
- Quick Books experience is required.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead teams, improve processes, and manage multiple priorities.
