Overview
The Department of Communication is seeking adjunct faculty members to develop and teach undergraduate courses in our growing journalism program.
Responsibilities- Develop and teach undergraduate journalism courses.
- Deliver instruction in media law and ethics, news literacy, journalism, advanced reporting, journalism field studies, reporting through social media, press and the presidency, podcasting, mobile journalism, sports writing, journalism capstone, and other department needs.
- Course sections may be scheduled during the day, night, weekends, or online.
- Master's degree (M.A., M.F.A. or M.B.A.) or commensurate professional experience required.
- Professional experience in journalism required.
- Previous teaching experience is a plus.
- Expertise in news reporting, news writing, feature writing, social/digital media management, audio and television production.
- Knowledge of intersections between these areas.
- Passion for journalism and understanding of the evolving news media landscape.
- Commitment to teaching diverse populations.
Adjunct per credit rate:
- New employees: $2100 per credit
- Employees with 13 or more semesters: $2175 per credit
