Undergraduate courses in this department are taught both online and in-person. Those generally taught by Adjunct faculty include, but are not limited to:
  • American Government
  • Introduction to Politics
  • Power, Justice, and Freedom
Department Overview:

The Department of Political Science, Legal, and Urban Studies (PLUS) provides the opportunity for students to earn BA and MA degrees in multiple disciplines related to government and law. We aim to help students build successful careers at the city, county, state, and federal government levels, as well as in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Our department also has a high success rate of placing students in prestigious graduate and law school programs.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Teach in-person and/or online depending on departmental needs.
  • Develop syllabi with relevant course content, objectives, and methods of student assessment.
  • Return graded assignments to students in a timely manner using a clear and appropriate grading methodology.
  • Contribute to student success by being available during set office hours to address student questions and/or concerns.
Required Qualifications:
  • Masters or Juris Doctor degree in political science or a similar field.
  • Ability to teach in-person or online.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional experience in a field related to government or law.
  • Experience teaching both online and in-person.
Personal Attributes and Traits:
  • Ability to apply professional experience to enhance the students' learning experience.
  • Openness to utilizing new and innovative teaching methods and technologies.
  • Commitment to creating a positive learning environment for students.
  • Capability in handling student challenges and accommodations with patience and respect.
  • Willingness to accept constructive feedback from colleagues.
ADJUNCTS PER CREDIT RATE:

New employees - $1975/CREDIT

Employees who have worked for 13+ semesters at WP - $2050/CREDIT
