Adjunct Faculty – Environmental Science
Adjacent faculty position in the College of Science and Health, Department of Environmental Science, teaching undergraduate courses online and/or in person.
Responsibilities- Develop relevant syllabi and course materials for up to six credits per semester based on the course outline.
- Teach courses, utilizing a mix of in‑person and online instruction as needed.
- Provide consistent and effective support and guidance to students, contributing to their success through role modeling, mentoring, and timely availability for questions.
- Assess learning outcomes and align assessment methods with course objectives.
- Required: Ph.D., JD, or Master’s degree in a related discipline, and ability to teach online.
- Preferred: Demonstrated professional activity within the discipline (e.g., academic or industry experience), experience teaching both online and in person, and published peer or non‑peer reviewed articles, conference papers, blogs, or books.
- Ability to translate environmental science experience into pedagogical approaches that enhance curriculum relevance.
- Commitment to continuous professional development.
- Commitment to content, teaching excellence, assessment strategies, and positive learning outcomes.
- Patience and resourcefulness in managing student challenges.
- Collaborative mindset, capable of setting and working toward common goals in a team environment.
Adjuncts receive a per‑credit rate: $2,100 per credit for new employees and $2,175 per credit for those with 13+ semesters at WP.
