Associate or Assistant Professor of Economics

Position Overview

William Paterson University invites applications for a Tenure‑Track full‑time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in Economics in the Department of Economics, Finance and Global Business (EFGB) of the AACSB‑Accredited Cotsakos College of Business. Candidates from all areas of economics are welcomed. Those with teaching or research experience in financial analytics are especially encouraged. The position carries full benefits and a competitive salary.

Position starts August 25, 2026.

• Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, online, hybrid or in‑person, in subjects including but not limited to Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Economics for Decision Makers, Financial Analytics, Healthcare Economics, Managerial Economics, Finance Information Systems, Finance Risk Management, Machine Learning and Text Mining for Finance, and Financial Planning.
• Develop syllabi, deliver course content, and assess student learning according to departmental guidelines.
• Provide timely and effective advisement, mentoring and guidance to students.
• Perform additional teaching duties as assigned.
• Pursue scholarly activities to maintain AACSB accreditation, and collaborate with faculty on research projects.
• Attend department and college meetings, participate in recruitment, retention, and graduation activities, and contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation reporting.
• Serve on committees as needed and engage with the business community and professional development activities.

• Doctoral degree in Economics, Finance or closely related field; ABD considered (Doctorate earned by March1 of the first year of appointment).
• Established record of scholarship and/or experience meeting the college’s criteria for Scholarly Academic or Instructional Practitioner faculty.
• Evidence of successful college‑level teaching or strong potential for effective instruction.
• Willingness to contribute to curriculum development and department initiatives.

• Experience teaching in online and hybrid formats.
• Ability to teach courses in financial analytics or financial planning to support emerging programs.

Assistant Professor: $77,593.35‑$89,239.24;
Associate Professor: $94,323.52‑$. Eligible for comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, retirement plans, and tuition support.
