Position:
Predoctoral Fellow of Urban Planning and Policy, Department of Political Science, Legal Studies, and Urban Studies, College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.

Job type:
Non‑Tenure‑Track Teaching Position (NTTP), up to two academic years, with possibility to transition to a tenure‑track role after the first year based on performance and faculty needs.

• Teach a total of 18 graduate and/or undergraduate credits annually in online, hybrid or face‑to‑face modalities as per departmental needs.
• Collaborate with faculty through tailored mentorship to develop course syllabi, deploy content, objectives, and assessment methods.
• Contribute to the success of a diverse student population by providing consistent support, mentoring, and timely assistance to student inquiries.
• Develop and maintain a research program involving undergraduate and graduate students, disseminate research through quality publications and external/internal grant submissions.
• Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities, including mentoring, assessment of student learning, program and accreditation reporting, and attendance at meetings.

• Identifies as a member of an underrepresented population by race, ethnicity, gender, socio-economic background, first-generation status, or other protected category.
• ABD from an accredited institution with emphasis in urban planning and policy, public management, environmental policy and planning, urban design or a closely related field.
• Strong commitment to teaching and evidence of teaching excellence or promise of future success.
• Evidence or plan of research capacity and a scholarly agenda for graduate and undergraduate student engagement.
• Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion concepts and their application to teaching and learning.
• Commitment to advancing the mission, vision, and values of William Paterson University.
• Experience in using geographic information systems (GIS) for teaching and/or research is a plus.
• Preferred skills: collaborative teamwork, constructive feedback receptivity, ability to engage students, and navigation of complex organizational settings.

Salary: AFT Salary Grade 26 – $78,720.11 to $ (subject to academic assessment and experience).
