Department OverviewThe Department of Chemistry offers BS and MS programs approved by the American Chemical Society. Graduates typically secure employment or graduate study within three months of completion. The department welcomes adjunct faculty to teach in‑person undergraduate coursework.
Duties and Responsibilities- Develop syllabi and course materials for up to six credits per semester for listed undergraduate courses.
- Contribute to student success by providing consistent and effective support and guidance through role modeling, mentoring, and being available for student questions.
- Teach in person and/or online depending on course schedules and departmental needs.
- Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Strong commitment to hands‑on laboratory teaching involving undergraduates.
- Postdoctoral experience.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development.
- Commitment to content, teaching excellence, assessment strategies, and positive outcomes.
- Patience and resourcefulness in managing student challenges.
- Ability to develop and sustain robust relationships in a diverse environment.
- Ability to set and work toward common goals in a collaborative environment.
- New employees: $2100 per credit.
- Employees with 13+ semesters at WP: $2175 per credit.
