Adjunct Professor – Department of Sociology and Criminology (College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences)
William Paterson University invites applications for the adjunct faculty position in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice. Students in the department are offered courses in criminal justice, sociology, research methods, and data analysis.
Responsibilities- Develop relevant syllabi based on course outlines, including objectives and assessment methods for up to six (6) credits per semester in an undergraduate course.
- Contribute to student success by providing consistent and effective support and guidance through role‑modeling and mentoring.
- Earned Master’s or PhD in Sociology, Criminology, or a related field.
- One or more years of teaching experience in higher education.
- Enthusiasm for teaching and content.
- Patience and resourcefulness in managing student challenges.
- Ability to develop and maintain sustainable relationships in a diverse environment.
- Dedication to excellence and achieving positive outcomes.
- Commitment to collaborative goal setting and work.
Adjuncts are paid per credit: new employees – $2100 per credit; employees with 13+ semesters at WP – $2175 per credit. The position may be eligible for a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and dental insurance and retirement plans.
