Seeking a highly driven, discreet Investment Analyst to work directly with the principal managing $250M+ of personal capital across public markets and private investments.
This is not a junior role, not a fund, and not a training program. This is an embedded, in-office role operating close to real capital allocation, private deal evaluation, and ongoing portfolio management.
Judgment, independence, availability, and confidentiality are mandatory.
Job Responsibilities Public Markets- Monitor and analyze positions across equities, derivatives, macro, and alternatives
- Track performance, drawdowns, risk concentration, and liquidity
- Support trade analysis (pre- and post-execution)
- Produce short, decision-ready summaries (daily / weekly)
- Screen and evaluate private deals (early-stage, growth, special situations)
- Prepare clear investment memos (thesis, risks, exit paths)
- Track portfolio companies and follow-on activity
- Maintain internal tracking (public positions, private investments, cash, commitments)
- Coordinate with attorneys, accountants, brokers, and counter parties
- Improve workflows, reporting, and internal systems
- Absolute discretion and trustworthiness
- Extremely high work ethic and in-office availability
- Comfortable with ambiguity and incomplete information
- Independent thinker
- Strong understanding of markets and trading
- Real exposure to private deals (VC / PE / angel / special situations)
- Financial modeling and valuation
- Clear, concise writing

The principal previously served as #2 at Appaloosa Management working directly under David Tepper with responsibility spanning public equities, derivatives, and special situations.
Today, the principal manages $250M+ of personal capital and is an early investor in frontier themes including:
- Advanced energy (including X-energy and small modular reactor technologies)
- Space
- Life sciences and blood-derived therapeutics
This role offers direct exposure to principal-level decision-making, not institutional layers.
