Excelcare at Wayne is seeking a compassionate and creative Activities Director to lead engaging recreational and life-enrichment programs for our residents. In this role, you will design and oversee meaningful activities that promote social interaction, emotional well-being, and quality of life while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate is organized, energetic, and passionate about creating a vibrant, resident-centered environment where every individual feels valued and connected.

Activities Director Responsibilities:
  • Plan, develop, and oversee engaging individual and group activities that support residents’ physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Organize special events, outings, and celebrations based on resident interests and preferences.
  • Assess resident needs and create individualized activity plans in collaboration with nursing, therapy, and social services teams.
  • Supervise, train, and support activity aides and volunteers to ensure safe and meaningful programming.
  • Maintain activity calendars, participation records, and required documentation in compliance with facility policies and regulations.
  • Foster positive relationships with residents and families while managing activity supplies and budget.
Activities Director

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Certification as an Activity Director (Required).
  • Previous experience working as an Activities Director or in a similar role in a long-term care or healthcare setting is Required.
  • Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Creativity, patience, and a passion for working with seniors.
  • Ability to engage and motivate residents with diverse needs and backgrounds.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
