The Director of the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) reports to the Executive Director of EOF and Academic Achievement at William Paterson University. This leadership role provides administrative and program oversight, ensuring compliance with university, state and EOF regulations.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise the EOF department, mentoring and guiding staff.
  • Manage day‑to‑day operations of the EOF program, ensuring compliance with state and institutional guidelines.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate academic and developmental initiatives to promote student persistence, retention, and graduation.
  • Develop policies and procedures to strengthen program infrastructure and operational efficiency.
  • Lead strategic recruitment, admissions, and outreach, establishing enrollment goals and monitoring outcomes.
  • Administer the EOF operating budget, collaborating with accountants and fiscal offices.
  • Oversee the Grant Roster, ensuring statutory compliance.
  • Prepare annual and interim reports for internal and external stakeholders, including OSHE‑mandated reports.
  • Assist the Executive Director with short‑ and long‑range planning initiatives.
  • Participate in policy formulation and contribute to university‑wide initiatives supporting access and equity.
  • Serve as a liaison between EOF, academic departments, student services, and external partners.
  • Analyze program outcomes and KPIs to guide decision‑making, and implement evidence‑based strategies.
  • Lead the EOF Summer Program, overseeing recruitment, curriculum, and crisis management.
  • Manage cohort strategies and interventions to support student persistence.
  • Represent EOF program and University at meetings and professional associations.
  • Maintain partnerships with government agencies, community organizations, and educational partners.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience

• Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Student Affairs, or a related field from an accredited institution (required).

• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in higher education, including at least three years of supervisory and administrative experience.

• Proven experience in program management, budgeting, and compliance with state and federal regulations.

Competencies and Skills
  • Knowledge of EOF and access programs, including state reporting and fiscal oversight.
  • Strategic planning and programmatic initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Data analysis using student information systems (e.g., Ellucian Banner, Navigate).
  • Independent and collaborative working across all levels of the institution.
  • Staff supervision, evaluation, and coaching.
  • Fiscal management and budget monitoring.
Other Information

• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary and Benefits

$91,668.89 – $ (NAL). Eligible for comprehensive benefits including health and dental insurance and retirement plans.
