Companion Veterinary Hospital of Wayne is looking for an experienced Full-Time Veterinary Technician to join our team in Wayne, NJ.

We’re searching for someone who is confident in their technical skills, enjoys being an active part of patient care, and understands that some of the most important moments in veterinary medicine happen on the other end of the leash. This is a great opportunity for a technician who enjoys variety in their day and is equally comfortable assisting with clinical care, supporting procedures, and helping clients feel informed and cared for throughout their pet’s visit.

At Companion Veterinary Hospital of Wayne, we take a warm, personalized approach to veterinary medicine. Our team provides preventive and wellness care, same-day sick appointments, dentistry, surgery, and more, with a focus on making both pets and their people feel comfortable and supported.

A Day in the Life:
  • In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to use your veterinary technician skills while also playing an important part in the overall client experience. Responsibilities may include:
  • Assisting veterinarians with appointments, exams, treatments, and patient care
  • Safe patient handling and restraint
  • Venipuncture and blood collection
  • IV catheter placement
  • Preparing and running in-house laboratory samples
  • Administering medications and treatments as directed
  • Obtaining patient histories and communicating clearly with pet owners
  • Preparing patients and the hospital for surgical and dental procedures
  • Assisting with anesthesia monitoring and surgical recovery based on experience
  • Maintaining accurate medical records
  • Supporting prescription requests, scheduling, phone communication, and other client-service responsibilities
  • Helping create a welcoming, compassionate experience from the moment a client contacts the hospital through the completion of their visit
  • Working collaboratively with doctors and teammates to keep the day organized and patient care moving smoothly

Surgical and anesthesia experience is a strong plus
, but we are most interested in finding someone dependable, adaptable, compassionate, and excited to contribute wherever the team needs them.

Skills & Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Proficiency in compassionately handling and restraining animals, including those exhibiting stress or fear.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using veterinary software for patient records and medical documentation.
  • Physical capability to lift, carry, and restrain animals of varying sizes.
