The Assistant Manager role at ZALES JEWELERS is a full-time, on-site position located in Wayne, NJ. In this role, the Assistant Manager supports daily store operations, including overseeing sales activities, assisting with opening and closing procedures, and maintaining store visual standards. This position helps lead and coach the sales team, ensuring exceptional customer service, accurate product information, and adherence to company policies.
The Assistant Manager collaborates with the Store Manager on staffing, scheduling, performance feedback, and training initiatives. Additional responsibilities include monitoring inventory, supporting promotional activities, and contributing to sales targets and overall store performance.
- Experience in retail sales and customer service, preferably in jewelry, fashion, or luxury goods.
- Skills in team leadership, coaching, and staff development within a retail environment.
- Ability to manage day-to-day store operations, including cash handling, inventory oversight, and adherence to store procedures.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills for interacting with customers and team members.
- Capability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed for retail operations.
- Comfort with basic computer systems, point-of-sale (POS) technology, and reporting tools.
- Proven ability to meet or exceed sales goals and contribute to a results-driven team culture.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in business, retail management, or a related field is a plus.
- Prior supervisory or assistant management experience in a retail setting strongly preferred.
